Lainey Wilson Reveals the One Tip She Won’t Take from Her Mom

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, country star Lainey Wilson recently opened up about her close bond with her mom—and shared a funny memory that still stands out.

While Lainey has a deep appreciation for her mother’s wisdom, there’s one area where she draws the line: singing advice.

“I always say, ‘I don’t want to take advice from people who aren’t where I want to be,'” Lainey explained. “Growing up, I’d be singing, and my mama—who truly can’t carry a tune in a bucket—would try to tell me how to do it. It used to drive me crazy! I’d think, ‘You can’t sing!’”

Of course, Lainey said it all with love. Like most parents, her mom meant well—even if her tips weren’t exactly pitch-perfect.

Though Lainey may not follow her mom’s musical suggestions, she still turns to her for guidance in other areas of life. Just don’t expect her to ask for vocal coaching anytime soon.
