Sean Matthews

Sean Matthews
Saturday and Sunday Nights 6PM – 12AM
Sean grew up watching his grandfather operate a HAM radio station, so headphones and microphones have always been a part of his life. When he was three years old, he lived in a house where a radio station was at the end of the backyard. His Mom would let him listen to the portable radio while watching the DJ on the air. Talk about magic! From there he was hooked.
Sean’s radio journey started in high school in 1985 when he began working weekends at his hometown radio station in Kokomo. Since then, he has worked in Fort Wayne, Lafayette, Dayton Ohio, and Indianapolis.
During his career Sean’s worked in most formats: Top 40, Adult Contemporary, Oldies, anchored a morning news show and, of course, Country. He was also commercial production director for over a decade at our sister station WIBC.
His most memorable day in radio came on September 11, 2001. Because he had a TV in his studio, and it was a time before smartphones, many of his coworkers shuffled in and out over the course of the day watching unfolding news coverage.
Awards
Sean has won several Indiana Broadcaster Associations awards for his commercial and promo writing and production. He also won an IBA special recognition award for his daily statewide Covid updates during the Pandemic.
When he’s not on the radio, Sean enjoys traveling (by car), photography, cooking, writing and is a rabid Indiana High School basketball fan.
